Downloading minecraft stuck

I downloaded MC off the official website and when I try to run the Launcher Installer it opens and says "Making things awesome" and the progress bar never moves. I've tried closing it and reopening it. I've also tried deleting it and redownloading Minecraft from the official website. I'm trying to download Java edition if that helps.

I have a student who was successfully using v on his Mac but since updating to v is stuck on a screen that says "Downloading Resources" when he launches Minecraft. I had him uninstall (even the hidden files in ApplicationSupport) and reinstall, but still the same problem. I have recently updated to Minecraft Education Beta and the first time I signed in, it worked and I was able to play the game. The next day I opened it, the game updated to , and after I signed in, it was stuck on the "Downloading Resources" page. I waited for 3 hours but the page was still stuck on "Downloading Resources". Describe the bug Forge will not finish installing. Open the Microsoft Store app, click on the 3 dots in the upper right cornerdownloads updatesget updates and update everything. 5. Restart your PC, log in to both apps and see if that solves the problem.
